| Welcome
to my website. I am a licensed psychotherapist in New York &
Connecticut, with over 18 years of experience in dealing with a
wide range of issues. My goal is to help my clients who are struggling
with the stresses or overwhelming problems life can often present,
as well as those wishing to enter therapy on a journey of deeper
self-understanding. I am committed to helping people work toward
developing the skills and perspectives helpful in overcoming the
barriers that life can present.
I believe in balance, personal growth and healing, not in the
stigmatizing labels and assembly-line, "medicate them and out
the door" policies of modern managed care practice. Your journey
into psychotherapy should provide hope of a better and freer life,
increase self esteem and self awareness and allow you to remove
the obstacles that prevent you from reaching your true potential.
A healthy state of psychological functioning is important to our
ability to deal with life satisfactorily.
In today's society, there are a variety of increasingly common
disruptions that can impede our ability to get the most out of life.
These can sometimes be caused by impairments in our emotional functioning,
such as a mood disorder like depression, anxiety, or bipolar disorder
(also referred to as "Manic-Depression"). We may also
be challenged with behavioral problems, such as obsessive-compulsive
disorder.
With many years of experience in treating anxiety, depression,
substance abuse, relationship issues, intimacy and communication,
parenting skills, and professional dissatisfaction I have developed
a style of psychotherapy that emphasizes balance, healthy interpersonal
interactions, dynamic insight, and cognitive change.
